Tim Bass 18-Nov-2011 : North Rock : Southwest Reef

Posted on 11/16/11 1 Comment We installed our first "Divers Helping Reefs" buoy on November 18th, kicking off our new Divers Helping Reefs project.
Tim Bass of The UNIX and Linux Forums was the first "Diver Helping Reefs" to "Claim A Reef".  Tim and Robert of Adventure Divers have purchased 35 meters of 1" marine grade quality nylon rope.  Our marine supplier sells this rope for 110 Thai Baht (around $3.70 USD) per kilo.  Tim is the first diver to "Claim A Reef" by claiming North Rock (the SW Reef) and kicks off this project. According to Tim, one of his main reasons to kick-off this project was the fact that he repeatedly witnessed coral damages to North Rock, one of his favorite coral dive sites, caused by anchors.     In Tim's words, "It is better to do something about the reefs we love ourselves, versus waiting for others to take action, or complaining about it."
